workmen or merchants, have had a better understanding

that there is very close relation between workmen

and merchants, and that we must have unity. You

J

workmen have set up a strike and returned home, and we respect you very much for the sacrifices you have made, and the patience with which you have endured your hardship, has more than won our admiration.

We have an earnest hope in our return to Canton, and

we hope that the strike will come to a satisfactory

settlement at an early date. By satisfactory settle-

ment, we mean that the workmen will achieve their end

at last. We present our compliment to you workmen

with all respect.
